Job summary

Lonza Group Ltd. in Stein, Switzerland, is seeking an experienced professional to lead aseptic compounding processes on a fully site-based role.

You will provide hands-on technical support to operators, drive deviations and investigations, and execute validation and qualification activities to ensure GMP-compliant, high-quality manufacturing. Requirements include a BSc/MSc in Life Sciences, fluent English and conversational German (B1), and hands-on GMP experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Life Sciences with hands-on experience in aseptic/sterile manufacturing environments.
  • Proven experience in GMP-regulated manufacturing with a strong focus on quality, compliance, and documentation requirements.
  • Experience in qualification and validation activities is a strong advantage.
  • Fluent English and conversational German (B1 level or above) enabling effective cross-team communication.
  • Proactive, reliable team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity; experience with thawing and compounding operations and knowledge of GMP washers and autoclaves is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and continuously improve aseptic compounding processes, leveraging GMP manufacturing experience to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient operations.
  • Provide hands-on technical support to operators, troubleshoot process issues, and drive deviations, investigations, and corrective actions to maintain product quality and compliance.
  • Execute and support validation and qualification activities, including preparation, review, and maintenance of GMP documentation.
  • Maintain equipment and processes in an inspection-ready state, support internal and external audits, and contribute expertise in sterile manufacturing environments.
  • Collaborate within a proactive, reliable, and accountable team in a fast-paced setting with changing priorities.

Job description

The actual location of this job is in Stein, AG, Switzerland. Relocation assistance is available for eligible candidates and their families, if needed. Join a collaborative, proactive and diverse team where you will drive process excellence across compounding operations, support operators with technical expertise, lead deviations, investigations, and execute validation and qualification activities while ensuring continuous inspection readiness. As part of an exciting greenfield growth project, you will take ownership, make a visible impact, and contribute to the successful delivery of safe, high-quality products.

This is a fully site‑based role. Working together in person supports close, real‑time collaboration and the technical precision needed to manufacture medicines to the highest quality and safety standards.

What you will do:
  • Lead and continuously improve aseptic compounding processes, leveraging GMP manufacturing experience to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient operations.
  • Provide hands‑on technical support to operators, troubleshoot process issues, and drive deviations, investigations, and corrective actions to maintain product quality and compliance.
  • Execute and support validation and qualification activities, including the preparation, review, and maintenance of all relevant GMP documentation.
  • Maintain equipment and processes in an inspection‑ready state, support internal and external audits, and contribute expertise in sterile manufacturing environments.
  • Collaborate within a proactive, reliable, and accountable team, bringing a BSc/MSc in a scientific discipline, fluent English and conversational German (B1); experience with GMP washers, sterilization processes, thawing, and compounding is an advantage.
What we are looking for:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a Life Sciences discipline (e.g., Biotechnology, Pharmacy, Biology, Chemistry) with hands‑on experience in aseptic/sterile manufacturing environments.
  • Proven experience in GMP‑regulated manufacturing, with a strong understanding of quality, compliance, and documentation requirements is a must.
  • Experience in qualification and validation activities are a strong advantage.
  • Fluent English and conversational German (B1 level or above), enabling effective communication across teams and functions.
  • A proactive, reliable team player who enjoys collaborating with others, takes ownership of responsibilities, and thrives in a fast‑paced environment with changing priorities and multiple parallel activities.
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity with a high degree of flexibility; experience in thawing and compounding operations and knowledge of GMP washers and autoclaves are considered strong advantages.
