Job description

Senior Mechatronics Designer at Sioux Technologies

As a Senior Mechatronics Designer, you develop mechatronic solutions for high-tech products and machines. You support customers in developing and integrating high-tech systems where extreme conditions like ultra-high vacuum, accurate positioning, and high-speed movements are important. You will work with customers in the semiconductor, analytical, and medical equipment industries, in the Brainport region and beyond. Your mechatronics expertise guides high-tech solutions, such as wafer steppers and electron microscopes.

Responsibilities
  • Leading a team of Mechatronics designers and engineers in high-tech projects; define work packages, monitor progress, and adjust as needed.
  • Translating customer requirements into technical specifications and leading the creation of concepts for motion drivetrains and control architectures.
  • Collaborating with the project leader and system architect to coordinate Mechatronics work packages and align with other disciplines (Mechanics, Software, Electronics, Electrical).
  • Acting as a technical sparring partner; identifying risks, providing feedback, and guiding junior colleagues within the team.
  • Proactively identifying risks (time, budget, technical) within Mechatronics packages and developing mitigation plans with internal stakeholders.
  • Possessing solid expertise in at least four of the following areas: Dynamics, Modeling and Simulation, System Identification, Motion Control, embedded control platforms, hardware (sensors, actuators, drives), and control software.
  • Thriving on enabling the first motion of a prototype, resolving integration issues, refining the design, and successfully completing acceptance tests.
  • Additional responsibilities as required to support project delivery and client success.
Prerequisites
  • A completed academic degree in Mechatronics.
  • At least 8 years of experience on development projects within the High-Tech industry.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a complex, multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Enthusiasm for technology and eagerness to broaden knowledge.
  • Teamwork spirit and interest in coaching junior colleagues.
  • Aspired to grow into the role of System Architect.
What you can expect in return
  • Flexible 32-40 hour working week, with room to work from home.
  • A healthy work-life balance with 28 holidays and option to buy an additional 12 holidays.
  • Work with passionate colleagues who share your drive for technology and business success.
  • Collaborative environment combining software, electronics, mechanics, mechatronics, mathematics and assembly on challenging high-tech projects.
  • Freedom and responsibility; you know exactly what you are doing.
  • Personal coaching and a training budget of €6000 per year for continuous development.
  • Social events and knowledge sharing opportunities within the high-tech community.
  • Main office located in the Brainport region; access to Tech Labs for lunch, sports, music, and knowledge sharing.
