Job summary

Unity Partners is exclusively representing a client in Amsterdam seeking a Senior Product Development Engineer to own mechanical design for complex miniaturized electromechanical solutions. You lead the system development team's mechanical work and guide direction.

You drive early-stage concepts through prototyping and manufacturing readiness, collaborating with external suppliers, and applying lean methods to ensure tight tolerances and robust design.

Qualifications

• MSc or equivalent in mechanical engineering or applied physics with strong design experience.
• Senior-level mechanical design experience from concept through prototype to manufacturing.
• Strong DFM experience, especially in tight-tolerance environments.
• Hands-on design of plastic and metal hardware, incl. miniature or precision parts.
• Knowledge of plastic part design and molding processes.
• Experience working with external manufacturers and challenging tolerances.
• Industrial product development experience rather than academic projects.
• Bonus: mechanical modeling/simulation and interest in acoustics or vibration.
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design within the system development team for plug and socket connectors.
• Develop multiple concepts and feasibility studies with measurement setups and simulations.
• Guide technology blocks in collaboration with external partners.
• Work independently on complex assignments within multidisciplinary teams.
• Evaluate concepts and drive toward manufacturing readiness.
• Challenge external manufacturing partners on feasibility, tolerances, and process capability.
