Job summary

eBay is seeking a Senior Manager, Machine Learning Engineering - Generative AI to lead a team of applied researchers and ML engineers. This hands-on leadership role blends research exploration with building scalable, reliable products for global customers.

You will set technical direction, grow the team, and partner with product, engineering, and platform teams to move ideas from research to production, delivering measurable value.

Qualifications

• 8-10 years of experience in machine learning and Generative AI.
• Experience leading and developing technical teams, setting direction while contributing hands-on.
• Deep expertise in LLMs, multimodal models, NLP, agents, post-training, reinforcement learning, or learning from feedback.
• Strong ML engineering skills: training, evaluation, pipelines, deployment, serving, and production model serving.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of applied researchers and ML engineers delivering end-to-end Generative AI capabilities and products, from research through production deployment.
• Set the technical direction for the team and contribute to decisions across model quality, latency, cost, reliability, and maintainability.
• Turn research prototypes into scalable production systems with pragmatic decisions on architecture and performance.
• Build systems for training, post-training evaluation, deployment, serving, and continuous improvement using feedback.
• Partner with product, engineering, research, and AI platform teams to deliver AI capabilities with measurable value for customers.
• Hire, mentor, and grow a strong technical team with a culture of rigor and end-to-end ownership.
