Job summary

JD Engineers is a specialist company producing high-quality folder gluers for the corrugated and solid board industry, part of Alliance within Barry-Wehmiller. The Software Commissioning & Support Engineer configures, commissions, and supports folder gluers, ensuring smooth operation, remote and on-site support, and continuous improvement of automation systems.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in a technical field, 5–10 years’ automation experience, strong PLC and motion control skills, and

Qualifications

Bachelor level degree in a technical field (informatics, electrical, mechatronics or automation).
5–10 years in industrial automation, commissioning or field service engineering.
Strong PLC programming and motion control background.
Experience with multiple hardware brands (Sigmatek preferred; others valuable).
Hands-on troubleshooting without extensive documentation; safety regs knowledge.

Responsibilities

Configure and commission PLC-based motion and control software for folder gluers.
Integrate and test automation systems including motion control and HMI.
Provide remote and on-site customer support under time pressure.
Diagnose software and hardware faults and repair electrical/mechanical issues.
Collaborate with R&D and engineering to implement upgrades.
Train operators and maintenance staff on machine operation.
