Job summary

dsm-firmenich Delft is seeking a (Senior) Technician Fermentation for the ISOL, TTH team. You will perform bench-scale fermentations, support process development, and collaborate with teams across strain development, downstream processing, analytics and application development.

You bring a BSc/HBO in Food technology, Bioprocess Technology or Microbiology and hands-on fermentation experience. This role supports industrial biotech innovations in food ingredients.

Qualifications

• BSc/HBO in Food technology, Bioprocess Technology, Microbiology or a related field.
• Up to 3 years of hands-on experience with bench-scale fermentation and familiarity with microbial batch and fed-batch processes.
• Good understanding of microbiology, aseptic working, and fermentation process control.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy; able to work in a multidisciplinary R&D setting.
• Safe, orderly laboratory practices and clear written/verbal English communication.

Responsibilities

• Accurately plan, prepare, execute and monitor microbial fermentations at bench scale.
• Set up and operate various fermentation systems at laboratory scales including media, feeds and inoculum.
• Monitor and interpret key fermentation parameters (pH, temp, DO, aeration, agitation, feeding).
• Support fermentation process development and optimization through down-scaling and scale-up.
• Take lab ownership and maintain fermentation equipment with safety in mind.
• Analyze and document data, prepare mass balances and translate results into reports.
