Job summary

Arcadis in the Netherlands seeks a Senior Structural Engineer FEM to lead high-end finite element analyses for bridges, tunnels and complex buildings. You will design models, set assumptions, run simulations and translate results into actionable design recommendations.

You will work in multidisciplinary teams, support colleagues and clients, and ensure analysis quality, reproducibility and clear communication of outcomes.

Qualifications

• MSc or BSc in Civil Engineering or comparable discipline.
• Demonstrated experience with advanced structural analyses and finite element modelling.
• Strong theoretical foundation in structural mechanics, material behaviour, stability, dynamics and numerical analysis.
• Hands-on experience with specialised FEM software and advanced analysis tools.
• Ability to translate complex technical analyses into clear, well-substantiated reports and actionable recommendations.
• Experience in infrastructure projects such as bridges, tunnels or similar structures is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Independently set up, execute and review advanced FEM analyses for complex structural challenges.
• Define modelling approaches, set boundary conditions, and ensure reproducible, technically sound models.
• Analyse outcomes and translate them into actionable recommendations and risk assessments.
• Collaborate with other disciplines and align with project teams to maintain quality and traceability.
• Engage with clients and stakeholders, translating complex analyses into understandable information.
• Coach junior colleagues and contribute to knowledge building and innovation within the team.
