Job summary

NRL is seeking a Senior Engineer to lead the Data Centre engineering function in the Netherlands. You will set engineering strategy, oversee on-site controls, manage engineers and the supply chain, and ensure quality procedures are met.

You will also handle Temporary Works coordination and lifting operations when required. The role demands strong leadership, experience with QA, RFI processes, and familiarity with design management across piling, geotechnical, substructures, and concrete work.

Job description

We have an opportunity for Senior Engineers to join a Data Centre team in the Netherlands.

The Senior Engineer manages the engineering function as the senior representative, co‑ordinates with the line manager and provides Engineering Leadership for their respective project(s). They set the strategy for Engineering, oversee onsite controls, and manage the (Engineer/Assistant Engineer) and subordinates/supply chain. The Senior Engineer is the primary point of reference for QA, record keeping and production, ensuring the establishment and maintenance of quality procedures and requirements. They also take responsibility for Temporary Works Control/Coordination and, where required, actively manage lifting operations.

Responsibilities

• Competent and demonstrates advanced awareness in dimensional control and comfortable rotating global grids into local grid format.
• Ensures that site and graduate engineers manage survey equipment.
• Ensures the engineering team completes as‑built surveys for key elements, understanding key tolerances and analysing details across interfaces to highlight potential problems.
• Completes an individual daily diary.
• Competent in quality control principles for most packages; reviews and creates Inspection & Test Plans; has advanced knowledge of key packages such as concrete, drainage, steelwork and brickwork.
• Has good awareness of project specifications, particularly tolerances for vertical and horizontal structural elements.
• Controls the components of the Non‑Conformance procedure, comfortable creating and closing out Non‑Conformances, understanding the cost of defects and remedial works, and working actively to close out NCRs in a timely manner.
• Is competent in issuing “Permits to break ground.”
• Reviews and creates method statements and risk assessments.
• Identifies missing information and possesses an excellent working knowledge of the project RFI process.

Experience

• Fully competent in understanding underground services dangers and required risk control procedures.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Competent in digital information systems (e.g., A‑Site, Viewpoint for Projects, etc.).
• Significant experience in the design management process.
• Broad technical exposure in trades such as piling, geotechnical, substructures (including waterproofing).
