Umbilical Advanced is seeking a Senior Data Centre Engineer to provide technical leadership across multiple Netherlands facilities. This hands-on role focuses on supporting engineering teams, improving operational standards, and ensuring safe, reliable critical infrastructure performance.

Qualifications

• Significant experience within data centres or critical facilities.
• Fluent Dutch and English.
• Full Category B driving licence.
• Experience writing and applying SOPs, EOPs and MOPs.
• Experience coaching engineers.
• Experience coordinating operations across multiple sites.
• Experience reviewing RAMS and conducting risk assessments.
• Experience managing contractors and external technical works.
• Strong understanding of Permit-to-Work, LOTO and safe isolation processes.

Responsibilities

• Provide senior technical guidance during planned maintenance, reactive works and operational incidents
• Coach engineers and support the development of technical capability across the site teams
• Create, review and standardise SOPs, EOPs, MOPs and other operational documentation
• Coordinate contractors, technical works, permits, isolations and work completion
• Review RAMS and risk assessments, ensuring safe systems of work are consistently followed
• Support troubleshooting across critical electrical and mechanical infrastructure
• Improve operational consistency, reliability, safety and procedural discipline across multiple facilities
• Act as a technical point of contact for engineers, customers, contractors and operational stakeholders

The Opportunity

An established data centre operator is looking for an experienced Senior Data Centre Engineer to provide technical leadership across several operational facilities in the Netherlands.

This is a hands-on technical role rather than a traditional people-management position. You will support engineering teams, improve operational standards and help ensure the safe, reliable and efficient performance of critical infrastructure.

The position would suit an experienced critical facilities engineer who enjoys coaching others, improving procedures and raising technical standards across multiple sites.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide senior technical guidance during planned maintenance, reactive works and operational incidents
• Coach engineers and support the development of technical capability across the site teams
• Create, review and standardise SOPs, EOPs, MOPs and other operational documentation
• Coordinate contractors, technical works, permits, isolations and work completion
• Review RAMS and risk assessments, ensuring safe systems of work are consistently followed

Requirements

• Significant experience within data centres or critical facilities
• Strong knowledge of critical infrastructure, including:

• UPS systems
• Standby generators
• ATS and STS systems
• PDUs and low-voltage distribution
• CRAC, CRAH, chillers and free-cooling systems
• Fire detection and suppression systems
• BMS and DCIM platforms

• Experience writing and applying SOPs, EOPs and MOPs
• Experience coaching or technically guiding engineers
• Experience coordinating operations across multiple sites
• Experience reviewing RAMS and conducting risk assessments Experience managing contractors and external technical works
• Strong understanding of Permit-to-Work, LOTO and safe isolation processes
• Full Category B driving licence
• Fluent Dutch and English
