Job summary

Optics11 is seeking a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to drive embedded software development across the product lifecycle. You will translate requirements into robust Linux-based solutions and collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to deliver reliable, testable, and scalable software.

Responsibilities include designing and integrating Linux applications, BSPs, and APIs, owning major workstreams, and maturing software stacks for production releases.

Qualifications

• BSc or MSc in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Embedded Systems, or related field.
• 5+ years of embedded Linux software development experience (userspace and/or BSP).
• Strong C++ and Python development for Linux userspace applications and services.
• Experience with embedded Linux architecture, interfaces, APIs, multithreading, and hardware abstraction.
• Experience building and maintaining embedded Linux BSPs/images with Yocto or similar.
• Ability to debug Linux kernel drivers, device tree, and boot/integration issues.
• Experience with Git, CMake, unit testing, code reviews, and modern software practices.
• Experience with CI/CD environments; familiarity with Docker in embedded development.
• Experience with Python for automation, testing, tooling.
• Strong communication skills in English and collaborative style.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain embedded software solutions across the product lifecycle.
• Translate requirements into reliable, maintainable, and scalable software designs.
• Design, develop, and integrate embedded Linux applications, hardware interfaces, internal APIs, system control, calibration, and diagnostics.
• Take ownership of significant software workstreams and mature stacks into product-level solutions.
• Develop and maintain software testing, automation, CI/CD, diagnostics, and repeatable release processes.
• Support prototype development, system integration, verification, qualification, and product release.
• Analyze system and software performance and troubleshoot cross-domain issues.
• Identify risks, evaluate design alternatives, and contribute to reviews.
• Ensure software quality, reliability, and manufacturing suitability.
• Plan and deliver work with milestones, communicating risks and debt.
• Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams and provide technical guidance.
• Share knowledge and best practices to improve engineering ways of working.
