The Opportunity
We're looking for a Senior Embedded Linux Engineer to join an innovative engineering team developing next-generation connected technology products. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex embedded platforms, contributing across low-level software, system integration, platform enablement, and product development.
You will collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver reliable, high-performance embedded solutions that support products deployed in demanding real-world environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain embedded Linux platforms for custom hardware.
- Support platform bring-up, system integration, and deployment activities.
- Build and maintain Linux distributions using modern embedded build frameworks.
- Develop and optimise low-level software in C/C++.
- Configure and maintain Linux kernel components, device trees, and hardware interfaces.
- Develop, customise, and maintain device drivers for embedded platforms.
- Support system image generation, deployment, and maintenance activities.
- Debug hardware/software integration issues across the platform stack.
- Work closely with hardware, firmware, and application teams throughout the product lifecycle.
- Contribute to software architecture decisions, technical improvements, and engineering best practices.
- Participate in validation, testing, and troubleshooting activities to ensure product quality and reliability.
Required Experience:
- Degree qualified in Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, Embedded Systems, or a related discipline.
- Strong commercial experience developing software for embedded Linux environments.
- Proven experience supporting hardware platforms at the BSP or platform layer.
- Strong Embedded C and C++ development skills.
- Experience with Linux system programming and debugging.
- Knowledge of Linux kernel architecture and customisation.
- Understanding of hardware interfaces and communication protocols such as UART, I2C, and SPI.
- Experience working with embedded Linux build systems such as Yocto or similar technologies.
- Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
- Experience delivering production-quality software within regulated or high-reliability environments.
- Wireless connectivity technologies including Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
- Microcontroller-based development.
- Experience with RTOS environments such as FreeRTOS.
- Exposure to embedded networking and connectivity solutions.
- Experience working within Agile product development teams.
