Job summary

Eli Lilly and Company seeks a Senior Director of Health, Safety & Environment for the Katwijk site in the Netherlands. The role leads EHS strategy across occupational health, industrial hygiene, process safety, and environmental compliance for a new OSD manufacturing facility.

Responsibilities include setting objectives and budgets, driving a proactive safety culture, and ensuring regulatory alignment with Dutch/EU rules and Lilly standards, while supporting capital projects and site readiness.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, or related discipline).
• Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in EHS within pharmaceutical or chemical manufacturing, with demonstrated leadership at a senior level.
• Deep knowledge of EU/Dutch environmental, health, and safety legislation and permitting processes.
• Fluent in English (written and spoken). Dutch language proficiency is a strong advantage.

Responsibilities

• Lead the EHS department: objectives, budgets, capital plans, and staff development.
• Establish a proactive safety culture with employee engagement and visible leadership commitment.
• Develop management systems, metrics, procedures, and trend analyses for day-to-day operations.
• Lead EHS-by-design integration into site commercialisation, new product introductions, and change control processes.
• Ensure compliance with Dutch and EU environmental, health, and safety regulations and Lilly Global HSE standards.
