Job summary

Polarsteps in Amsterdam is seeking a DevOps Engineer to own the day-to-day operations of our AWS stack, including S3 and PostgreSQL databases, and to spot bottlenecks in architecture with Engineering and other stakeholders.

You will review, improve and maintain observability, monitoring and alerting, manage incidents, and keep infrastructure and troubleshooting docs up to date while strengthening platform security and privacy. The role offers equity, travel perks, a MacBook, and hybrid work.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in DevOps, SRE or Platform Engineering.
• Experience automating infrastructure on AWS.
• Fluent in shell scripting, Python and Terraform / OpenTofu.
• Experience monitoring and scaling a Python + PostgreSQL stack under load.
• Clear communication with technical and non-technical colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Own day-to-day operations of the AWS stack (S3, PostgreSQL).
• Identify bottlenecks and plan improvements with Engineering and stakeholders.
• Review and maintain observability, monitoring and alerting.
• Manage incidents and keep infrastructure docs up to date.
• Strengthen platform security and privacy; drive SSO rollout.
