Polarsteps is an Amsterdam-based tech company serving millions of travelers with a scalable platform. We seek an experienced DevOps Engineer to own day-to-day operations of our AWS stack and databases, improve observability, and lead security and reliability initiatives.

You will work with a collaborative Platform Team across multiple engineering squads, shaping infrastructure for growth and efficiency. We value hands-on builders who document decisions, automate workflows, and communicate

Qualifications

• 5+ years as a DevOps Engineer, SRE or Platform Engineer.
• Experience automating infrastructure and processes on AWS.
• Fluency in shell scripting, Python and Terraform/OpenTofu.
• Experience monitoring, troubleshooting and scaling a similar stack (Python, PostgreSQL/RDS) under growing load.
• Comfort making changes to backend code when automation calls for it.
• Clear communication with technical and non-technical people, helping them reach decisions on complex trade-offs.

Responsibilities

• Own the day-to-day operations of our AWS stack, including S3 and PostgreSQL databases.
• Spot bottlenecks in architecture and scaling, and create plans with Engineering and stakeholders.
• Review, improve and maintain observability, monitoring and alerting.
• Manage and respond to incidents, and keep infrastructure and troubleshooting docs up to date.
• Strengthen platform security and privacy, in collaboration with our security lead.
• Lead initiatives like company-wide SSO and VPN management.
