Job summary

Bitvavo is seeking a Senior Data Platform Engineer to join the Storage and Messaging team within an established Platform Engineering group. The role focuses on building a scalable, secure data infrastructure and self-service data capabilities to empower multiple product teams.

You will work with Golang and Python, leverage Kafka and Flink for streaming, and apply Terraform and Kubernetes in a cloud-first environment to enhance platform productivity and governance.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in Golang or Python with a problem-solving focus.
• Strong understanding of platform engineering principles and distributed data systems.
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases; data warehousing and batch/stream processing a plus.
• Experience with distributed messaging systems such as Kafka, including cluster operations, topic/partition design, consumer group tuning, and stream processing with Flink.
• Fluency with infrastructure as code tools (Terraform) and container orchestration (Kubernetes) in a cloud-first environment.

Responsibilities

• Build a self-service platform enabling teams to develop at scale across diverse database and messaging technologies.
• Evolve the platform to support new data models, including structured and semi-structured data, streaming, and governance at scale.
• Build and maintain a secure, scalable, and compliant data infrastructure using IaC and automation.
• Enable data ingestion, processing, and consumption at scale as self-service.
• Mentor teammates, share technical knowledge, and drive engineering excellence.
