Job summary

Bitvavo B.V. in Amsterdam is seeking a Senior Data Platform Engineer to join the Data Platform team. You will build a self-service platform that lets product teams create data products quickly and reliably, improving scalability and developer experience.

The role focuses on real-time analytics, batch processing, and machine learning, while ensuring secure and compliant infrastructure managed through Terraform and Kubernetes. You will mentor teammates and help raise engineering standards.

Qualifications

We are looking for a talented Senior Data Platform Engineer to join the Data Platform team in our established Platform Engineering team.

What You’ll Be Doing

Build a self-service Data Platform that enables teams to build data products as easily and reliably as possible.

Continuously evolve our platform to support new data use cases, including real-time analytics, batch processing, and machine learning.

Build and maintain a secure, scalable, and compliant data infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code and automation.

Enable data ingestion, processing, and consumption at scale. All are offered entirely as self-service.

Mentor teammates by sharing technical knowledge, providing constructive feedback, and driving engineering excellence.

What We Look For

Experience with one or more programming languages. We primarily use Python (Java is a plus), but we value problem-solving ability over syntax familiarity.

Strong understanding of data engineering principles, including distributed data processing, stream processing, and data storage systems.

Fluency in using infrastructure as code tools (like Terraform) and container orchestration platforms (like Kubernetes) in a cloud-first environment.

Exceptional communication skills. We expect engineers to take ownership of their work end-to-end and communicate directly with stakeholders.

High sense of ownership and accountability. We value engineers who take initiative and advocate for the long‑term health of our data ecosystem.
