Job summary

Albert Heijn zoekt een Senior Data Platform Engineer die samen met een enthousiast team werkt aan de fundamenten van onze data-omgeving. Je zorgt ervoor dat data- en software engineers wereldwijd met data kunnen werken op een veilige en self-service platform.

Je bouwt aan de data platform, gebruikt Terraform en modern lakehouse stack (Databricks, Delta Lake) en werkt aan CI/CD pipelines. Je draagt bij aan beveiliging, IAM en RBAC en ondersteunt gebruikers bij hun data-introductie.

Qualifications

• 6+ jaar ervaring als Software Engineer of vergelijkbaar hands-on rollen.
• Sterke vaardigheid in Python en data-platform ervaring.
• Ervaring met Azure of andere publieke clouds.
• Ervaring met Infrastructure as Code (Terraform).
• In staat om samen te werken met stakeholders en technische/non-technische belanghebbenden.

Responsibilities

• Verdieporing van ons data-platform en verbetering van ontwikkelprocessen.
• Bouw van nieuwe integratietypen met bronnen zoals Kafka, Delta Lake en bestandsformaten.
• Ontwerp en implementatie van Infrastructure as Code met Terraform/Terragrunt.
• Ontwikkel modulaire, versiebeheerde infrastructuurcomponenten.
• Werk aan CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions) voor infra en applicaties.
• Optimaliseer grootschalige data-pijplijnen op prestatie, kosten en betrouwbaarheid.
• Pas beveiligingsbest practices toe, inclusief IAM en RBAC.
• Stel gebruikers in staat om data self-service te gebruiken.
• Ontwerp schaalbare oplossingen en ondersteun gebruikers.

As a Senior Data Platform Engineer, you’ll work together with an enthusiastic and high-performing team on the foundation of our data environment. You will make sure that data and software engineers from different countries within Ahold Delhaize can work with data smoothly and securely. Our data platform is fully self-service: we provide the connectors and tooling for software engineers to easily onboard their own data, while they remain responsible for delivering it into the platform.

Your responsibilities

• Further develop our data platform and improve our development processes together with the team, ensuring stable and high-value releases.
• Build new integration types with sources such as Kafka, Delta, Event Hub, and various file types.
• Design and implement Infrastructure as Code using tools like Terraform (Terragrunt).
• Build modular, version-controlled infrastructure components that are easy to maintain and reuse.
• Collaborate on CI/CD (GitHub Actions) pipelines to automate build, test, and deployment for both infrastructure and applications.
• Optimize large-scale data processing pipelines for performance, cost, and reliability.
• Apply security best practices, including IAM, secrets management, and RBAC.
• Enable users to onboard their data and perform their operational tasks independently via our self-service platform.
• Design scalable solutions and support users with questions or issues.
• Translate stakeholder requirements into smart, fitting solutions for our platform.

The recipe for maximum impact

• 6+ years of experience as a Software Engineer or similar technical, hands-on role.
• You have experience writing scalable Python code, following OOP and SOLID principles.
• You have experience with a modern lakehouse stack. Databricks (Spark), Delta Lake, and Unity Catalog preferred.
• You are deeply familiar with data processing and streaming.
• You have experience managing and supporting infrastructure in Azure (or another public cloud), with a focus on scalability and reliability.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, able to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• You’re tech savvy, pro-active and have a big passion for tech
