Job summary

Albert Heijn seeks a Backend Engineer (Kotlin/Java) to build scalable microservices for the Store Replenishment team, driving reliable supply chain operations. You will design and implement solutions that align with our architecture and business processes, while contributing to testing, security, and code quality.

You will work in a hybrid environment across our Digital and Tech platforms, collaborating with cross-functional teams to advance data-driven, scalable retail technology.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience with relevant tech stack (Java/Kotlin, Spring Boot).
• Strong experience with microservices architectures and distributed systems.
• Experience with Kafka and cloud environments (Azure preferred).
• Solid CI/CD, test automation, and release processes; security and code quality focus.

• Build and scale microservices in Kotlin for our Store Replenishment team, powering smarter supply chain operations.
• Design and deliver technical solutions that align with our architecture and business processes.
• Hands-on development: create proofs of concept, write clean code, implement automated testing, ensure security and code quality, and set best practices.
• Contribute to standards: shape and evolve our technical guidelines for long-term scalability.
• Collaborate and share: bring your expertise to cross-team initiatives within the AH Stores and Supply Chain Technology Platform.
• Enable growth: improve team skills and processes to deliver business value faster and more effectively.

You work at the heart of the Albert Heijn supply chain. The AH Store Replenishment product is responsible for creating the orders for 1300+ Albert Heijn stores. The recipe for maximum impact:

• 5+ years expertise on relevant technology stack: Java/Kotlin, Spring Boot, GitHub Actions/Azure DevOps/Jenkins, Kubernetes/Azure.
• You are the expert when it comes to microservices, Kotlin (or Java), Postgres or MongoDB, Kubernetes and Kafka.
• Experience in cloud (Azure preferred, but we will get you up to speed if you have AWS/Google experience).
• Know your way around CI/CD, including test automation integrations and release engineering automation.
• Strong understanding of concepts like code quality, IT security, test automation, and cloud practices.
• Outstanding communication in English.
• Ability to identify technical improvements and contribute to a technical roadmap.
