Job summary

Bitvavo is seeking a Senior Data Platform Engineer to join the Data Platform team in Amsterdam. The role focuses on building scalable, secure data infrastructure and empowering engineering teams with self-service data capabilities.

You will work on real-time analytics, batch processing, and ML use cases while advocating for platform reliability and developer productivity. Strong Python skills and IaC experience are essential.

Qualifications

• Proficient in Python; Java is a plus, prioritizing problem solving.
• Strong data engineering knowledge: distributed processing, streaming, storage.
• Experience with infrastructure as code (Terraform) and Kubernetes in cloud-first settings.
• Excellent communication and end-to-end ownership.

The Role

We are looking for a talented Senior Data Platform Engineer to join the Data Platform team in our established Platform Engineering team. Responsibilities

Requirements

• Experience with one or more programming languages. We primarily use Python (Java is a plus), but we value problem-solving ability over syntax familiarity.
• Strong understanding of data engineering principles, including distributed data processing, stream processing, and data storage systems.
• Fluency in using infrastructure as code tools (like Terraform) and container orchestration platforms (like Kubernetes) in a cloud-first environment.
• Exceptional communication skills. We expect engineers to take ownership of their work end-to-end and communicate directly with stakeholders.
• High sense of ownership and accountability. We value engineers who take initiative and advocate for the long-term health of our data ecosystem.
