Job summary

BlockTech is seeking a Senior Software Engineer, Data Infrastructure, to join its Foundation team in Amsterdam. You will own the pipelines, stores, and data flows used by researchers, traders, and risk teams, setting technical standards and guiding the stack.

You’ll work primarily in Rust and SQL, coordinating across Kafka, PostgreSQL, ClickHouse, and Iceberg, while ensuring low latency and high reliability for real-time data processing.

Qualifications

• 3+ years as a software engineer with data infrastructure focus.
• Proficiency in Rust, or strong C/C++ with Rust as primary.
• Hands-on with streaming/storage tech and self-hosted setups.

Responsibilities

• Own the data ingestion pipelines and storage used by teams.
• Set technical standards and guide other engineers on the data stack.
• Enable other teams by simplifying integration and building shared libraries.
• Architect streaming layer for Kafka/NATS and maintain throughput guarantees.
• Develop real-time aggregation and long-term storage across PostgreSQL, ClickHouse, Iceberg.
• Ensure reliability, capacity planning, schema evolution, and observability.
