Job summary

Gazelle Global in Utrecht is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join the HR Insights data team. You will own end-to-end data engineering lifecycle, connecting sources, modelling data, and delivering data products for staffing, attendance, contracts and training.

You will build scalable pipelines, ensure data quality, collaborate with HR stakeholders, mentor junior engineers and promote best practices across the data platform.

Qualifications

• 5–7+ years of data engineering experience in ETL/BI/Data Warehouse environments.
• Expert-level SQL skills.
• Strong Snowflake experience.
• Strong Azure experience, especially Azure Data Factory.
• Experience building and maintaining complex data pipelines.
• Knowledge of dimensional modelling and Data Vault 2.0.
• Git, version control and CI/CD experience.
• Ability to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Mentoring or coaching engineers.

The Role

Senior Data Engineer - HR Insights

We are looking for an experienced Senior Data Engineer to join an HR Insights data team working on business‑critical HR data and data products.

You will play a key role in making HR data accessible across a large‑scale data platform. The data produced by the team supports important business processes and decision‑making around staffing, absenteeism, contracts, qualifications and training.

As a senior member of the team, you will take ownership of the full data engineering lifecycle, from connecting new data sources and designing data models through to building reliable pipelines and delivering high‑quality data products.

Requirements

• 5-7+ years of recent Data Engineering experience within complex ETL, BI or Data Warehouse environments.
• Expert-level SQL skills.
• Strong experience with Snowflake.
• Strong experience with Azure, particularly Azure Data Factory.
• Proven experience building and maintaining complex data pipelines.
• Strong knowledge of data modelling, ideally dimensional modelling and/or Data Vault 2.0.
• Experience with Git, version control and CI/CD.
• Ability to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Experience mentoring or coaching other engineers.
• HBO/WO-level education in Computer Science, Data Science, Industrial Engineering or a similar field.
• Excellent Dutch communication skills - Dutch is mandatory.
