Job summary

Accountancy Gemak seeks a skilled Data Engineer to build, optimize, and maintain data systems supporting analytics and reporting. You will collaborate with BI specialists and cross-functional teams to align data infrastructure with business goals and ensure reliable data pipelines.

The candidate brings around 2 years of data engineering experience, strong SQL, ETL, Python skills, and hands-on Azure Data Factory and Microsoft Fabric expertise.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor in IT or Data Science/Engineering; ~2 years of data engineer experience
  • Experience with Azure Cloud platform; Data Factory and Microsoft Fabric (Dataflows, Data pipelines)

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and maintain scalable ETL pipelines for data quality and availability.
  • Design and maintain relational databases, data warehouses and data lakes.
  • Develop data integration solutions to merge data from various sources.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot data infrastructure and automate workflows to reduce downtime.
  • Collaborate with BI managers and stakeholders; document architectures and data models.
  • Ensure data governance, security and regulatory compliance.

We are growing within our data strategy team and to work on the roadmap with the right people, we are looking for a data engineer. In this position you will be working closely with BI Specialists within the team, the Customer Intelligence team and people within reporting on the topics below;

Data Pipeline Development:
  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) pipelines to ensure data quality and availability.
  • Optimize data workflows and integrate data from a variety of internal and external sources.
Database Management:
  • Design and maintain data storage solutions such as relational databases, data warehouses, and data lakes.
  • Ensure databases and data storage systems are optimized for performance, security, and reliability.
Data Integration and Transformation:
  • Develop data integration solutions to merge data from various sources into unified formats.
  • Implement data cleaning, validation, and transformation processes to prepare datasets for analysis.
System Monitoring and Maintenance:
  • Monitor and troubleshoot data infrastructure to identify and resolve issues promptly.
  • Implement and manage automation tools to enhance system efficiency and reduce downtime.
Collaboration:
  • Work closely with the BI manager and business stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver appropriate solutions.
  • Document system architecture, workflows, and data models to facilitate knowledge sharing and system maintenance.
Data Security and Compliance:
  • Ensure compliance with data governance standards and regulations.
  • Implement robust security protocols to protect sensitive data and ensure privacy.
This = what you bring

Our new colleague has a bachelor in IT or Data Science/-engineering. You also have around 2 years of relevant data engineer experience and specifically experience with Cloud platform Azure. You've worked with and are skilled in Data Factory and Microsoft Fabric (Dataflows, Data pipelines). Other requirements;

Technical Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of SQL and database design principles.
  • Expert in ETL development
  • Knowledge and experience in writing notebooks using programming languages (SQL, Python) for incremental and full load of data from sources into serverless architecture.
  • Knowledge and experience in GIT, data modelling, preferably dimensional modelling.
Soft Skills:
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Highly pro-active and motivated personality, you show initiative and take ownership.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
Generic Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
  • Certifications in cloud or data-related technologies.
  • Experience with Python and PowerBI is a big plus.
