Overview

Data Engineer | Rotterdam area | Hybrid | ASAP | Contract until the end of the year with a possibility to be extended

Are you an experienced Data Engineer who is familiar with data quality improvement and has hands on experience with Azure apps. You will be responsible for unlocking, importing, linking, and uploading data, enabling colleagues to build analyses and models on solid foundations.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain data pipelines, data streams, and data APIs
• Develop and optimize SQL queries for data extraction and transformation
• Implement and support star schema modeling (Kimball)
• Use Azure Synapse, ADF, and DevOps to create robust data solutions
• Develop documentation and improve data quality with automated testing and metadata management
• Collaborate with product owners, data consumers, source system owners, and other teams
• Experiment with new approaches and continuously improve processes to make work more efficient
• Support colleagues by providing reliable data for analytics, dashboards, and model development

Requirements (Must-Haves)

• Strong experience with SQL and relational databases
• Proven knowledge of ETL, data modeling (Kimball/star schema), and dedicated SQL pools
• Hands-on experience with Azure (Synapse, ADF, DevOps) and the Microsoft BI stack (Power BI, Power Apps)
• Experience with PySpark / notebooks (preferred)
• Familiarity with data quality improvement, automated testing, and metadata-driven approaches
• Skilled in creating clear technical documentation
• Significant experience in Agile/Scrum environments
• Completed higher education (HBO/WO) in Computer Science, Information Management, or related field
• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience
• Professional level of Dutch (must)
