Job summary

Harnham in Amsterdam is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to design, build, and scale modern data platforms across the full data lifecycle. The role focuses on data accessibility, quality, and business-critical applications, enabling colleagues and stakeholders through robust data solutions.

You'll work with Azure, Databricks, dbt and Power BI to implement scalable architectures, data models, and governance. Mentoring juniors and collaborating with IT colleagues are key parts of the role.

Qualifications

• Strong commercial experience building and maintaining modern data platforms.
• Hands-on expertise with Azure, Databricks, dbt, Power BI, and Unity Catalog.
• Strong SQL and Python skills, with additional scripting experience beneficial.
• Deep understanding of data modelling, database technologies, and data management best practices.
• Experience designing scalable data architectures and data integration solutions.
• Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience supporting and enabling colleagues through training, coaching, or knowledge sharing.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain ETL pipelines to support reliable data integration and accessibility.
• Develop and maintain data storage environments and supporting infrastructure.
• Create and enhance data models to improve performance, quality, and usability.
• Manage data extraction processes and integrate new data sources into existing platforms.
• Monitor data availability, system performance, and platform health.
• Build and maintain business-relevant applications that improve stakeholder efficiency.
• Collaborate with central IT teams to ensure alignment on technology and governance.
• Support, train, and mentor junior team members while contributing to the wider data capability of the organisation.
