Job summary

SIRE LIFE SCIENCES is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to design and maintain the data and software platform supporting airport passenger flow management. You will build Python backend services, REST APIs, and data pipelines for internal and external use.

You will deploy and operate on Azure/Kubernetes/OpenShift, ensuring stability, monitoring, and incident resolution while collaborating with data scientists to operationalize models.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in Python backend development and REST API design.
• Hands-on experience with OpenShift and/or Kubernetes.
• Strong SQL skills, ideally PostgreSQL.
• Microsoft Azure experience, including Azure Database for PostgreSQL.
• Experience deploying and maintaining applications in production environments.
• Strong troubleshooting, incident resolution and monitoring skills.
• Familiarity with delivering data-driven platforms or APIs for external consumption.
• Experience with CI/CD workflows and version control (git).
• Fluent in English; Dutch language skills are a plus for stakeholder communication.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain Python backend services and REST APIs for internal and external use.
• Build and optimize data pipelines and integrations supporting GreenWave products and airport operations.
• Deploy, monitor, and operate applications using Azure and Kubernetes/OpenShift environments.
• Ensure platform stability through monitoring, troubleshooting, incident management, and continuous improvements.
• Collaborate with data scientists to operationalize models and data products.
• Contribute to standards in software engineering, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and code quality practices.
