Job summary

Hadrian, an offensive cybersecurity startup, is seeking a Senior Data Engineer in Amsterdam to own and evolve the data infrastructure powering BI, operations, and AI initiatives. You will manage end-to-end data pipelines, ensure data reliability, and drive architectural improvements across the data ecosystem.

You will collaborate with Engineering, AI and Hacking teams to build scalable data pipelines, support AI/ML workloads and implement Lakehouse/semantic layer capabilities.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional Data Engineering experience in startup/scale-up environments.
• Strong hands-on experience with Airbyte, data replication, connectors and troubleshooting at scale.
• Proficiency in dbt, SQL, and Python for building data transformations.
• Experience with GCP and AWS, managing data storage (S3/Cloud Storage) and IAM.
• Ability to own a business-critical data platform with minimal day-to-day guidance.
• Apply software engineering principles to data infrastructure.
• Balance operational excellence with long-term architecture thinking.

Responsibilities

• Own and operate Hadrian's end-to-end data platform for reliability, scalability and performance.
• Maintain and optimize data integrations, connectors, and pipelines using Airbyte, dbt and BigQuery.
• Develop and evolve data models, transformations and semantic layers for analytics and AI.
• Improve platform reliability, monitoring and incident response processes.
• Collaborate with Engineering, AI, Security and Business teams to deliver data products.
• Evaluate and implement modern data platform capabilities including orchestration and Lakehouse technologies.
• Build tooling to improve developer and analyst productivity.
• Lead data architecture initiatives shaping Hadrian's AI and MLOps data foundation.

As a Senior Data Engineer at Hadrian, you will own and evolve the data infrastructure that powers critical business intelligence, operational decision-making, and next‑generation AI initiatives across the company.

This role is ideal for an experienced Data Engineer who enjoys combining hands‑on technical depth with end-to-end ownership. You'll become the primary owner of our data platform, ensuring that data flows reliably across the organisation while helping shape the future architecture of our data ecosystem.

You will work closely with Engineering, AI, and Hacking teams to build and maintain scalable data pipelines, support AI and MLOps initiatives, and drive architectural improvements such as our Semantic Layer and streaming Lakehouse capabilities.

What you will do as a Senior Data Engineer at Hadrian:

• Own and operate Hadrian's end-to-end data platform, ensuring reliability, scalability, and performance across the entire data stack.
• Maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize data integrations, connectors, and pipelines built on Airbyte, dbt, and BigQuery.
• Build and evolve data models, transformations, and semantic layers that power analytics, business operations, and AI initiatives.
• Drive operational excellence by improving platform reliability, monitoring, and incident response processes.
• Partner with stakeholders across Engineering, AI, Security, and Business teams to deliver trusted and actionable data products.
• Evaluate and implement modern data platform capabilities, including orchestration, streaming architectures, and Lakehouse technologies.
• Build tooling and automation that improves developer and analyst productivity.
• Lead strategic data architecture initiatives and help shape the future of Hadrian's AI and MLOps data foundation.

You are fit for this job because you:

• Have 5+ years of professional Data Engineering experience, ideally in a fast‑paced startup or scale‑up environment.
• Have deep hands‑on experience with Airbyte and understand data replication, connector management, and troubleshooting at scale.
• Are highly proficient with dbt, SQL, and Python, and have extensive experience building and maintaining transformation pipelines.
• Have experience working with GCP and AWS environments, including managing data storage (S3 / Cloud Storage) and identity management (IAM).
• Can operate independently and take full ownership of a business‑critical data platform without requiring significant day‑to‑day guidance.
• Apply strong software engineering principles and best practices to data infrastructure.
• Balance operational excellence with long‑term architectural thinking.
• Use AI pragmatically to accelerate workflows while maintaining high standards of quality and reliability.
• Communicate effectively with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Share our values and work in accordance with them.

Bonus points if you have:

• Experience with Kafka, Strimzi, Redis, or other streaming, caching, and in‑memory data platforms.
• Experience utilizing Redis or dedicated feature stores to support real‑time MLOps and AI/LLM workloads
• Familiarity with Lakehouse architectures and Semantic Layer implementations.
• Experience with Kubernetes, Helm, Terraform/OpenTofu, or cloud infrastructure automation.
• Experience with Scaleway or multi‑cloud environments.
• Contributions to open‑source data, analytics, or MLOps projects.
• Experience deploying or optimizing infrastructure supporting LLM workloads and AI applications.
