Job summary

EY Amsterdam is seeking a Senior Consultant in Financial Risk Management to apply quantitative techniques across credit and market risk, ESG, and AI-driven solutions. You will develop, validate and implement models, and contribute to risk governance and regulatory compliance.

Hybrid work arrangement with strong client interaction and business development opportunities. The role requires 3+ years in financial services, a Master’s in a quantitative field, and programming in Python/R/SQL.

Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of experience in Financial Services or advisory capacity.
  • Master's degree in a quantitative field.
  • Experience with data analytics, AI/ML techniques within financial services.
  • Experience in Credit Risk, Market Risk, ESG, AI/ML modeling.
  • Hands-on development, validation, or implementation of risk/price/AI models.
  • Programming in Python, R, VBA, Java, C++, SQL, Matlab or .NET.

Responsibilities

  • Apply quantitative techniques in financial risk management for financial institutions.
  • Develop and validate financial risk models; support modelling transformations.

You will use analytics and quantitative techniques to help our clients address Financial Services Risk Management issues facing the financial services sector, drive business efficiencies, and manage risks in their portfolios. Our team works on high -profile quantitative projects related to the development and validation of financial risk models used to manage market and credit risks , as well as advanced analytics.

Your new job | About your main responsibilities

As a Senior Consultant your will focus on applying quantitative techniques within the financial risk management of financial institutions. In addition to the traditional quantitative work in the credit and market risk areas, the F inancial Risk Management team focuses on new topics such as (Gen)AI and integrating ESG into models. Our services include a broad spectrum of solutions, from developing a model to supporting clients in major risk management transformations.

Your skills and strengths | About your unique contribution

As a Senior Consultant within the Financial Risk Management team, you will support leading financial institutions in solving complex risk management, regulatory and modelling challenges. You will work on a wide range of engagements, including model development and validation, model implementation, risk governance, regulatory compliance, and AI-driven solutions. At the same time, you will build strong client relationships, contribute to business development activities, and help drive the growth of our practice.

To qualify for the role, you have:

At least 3 years of experience in Financial Services, either as part of an institution; in an advisory or business consulting capacity to such organizations or in the regulation of such institution.

A strong academic background including at least a Master’s degree in a quantitative study, e.g.Econometrics, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, or a related field.

Experience with data analytics, AI/ML techniques, and an interest in applying these capabilities within the financial services sector.

Experience in one or more of the following topics: Credit Risk (IRB, IFRS 9), Market Risk (IRRBB, Liquidity, FRTB), Financial Crime modeling, AI/ML modeling, ESG, Derivative Pricing and Financial Services Regulation.

Hands-on experience in development, validation and/or implementation of Financial Risk, Pricing or AI models.

Programming experience in one or more languages such as Python, R, VBA, Java, C++, SQL, Matlab or .NET.

The ability to drive business development and contribute to the growth of the EY market solutions.

Optional: Professional Qualification e.g. CFA / FRM / CQF.
