Job summary

AkzoNobel in Sassenheim, NL, seeks a Senior Component Engineer to lead the delivery and lifecycle of a portfolio of color technology components. You will write and review production code, mentor engineers, and drive engineering standards within an Agile team.

You will own technical architecture decisions, ensure API consistency, and collaborate with Product Owners to deliver robust, reusable components while maintaining high quality and documentation.

Qualifications

• 8–10+ years of production-grade software component experience and engineering leadership.
• Strong C#/.NET and API/service design skills with hands-on experience.
• Experience mentoring engineers and setting engineering standards.
• Familiarity with agile/Scrum teams and cross-functional collaboration.
• Knowledge of versioning, backward compatibility and release management.

Responsibilities

• Serve as senior technical authority for color technology components and their delivery lifecycle.
• Provide technical guidance through code/design reviews and knowledge-sharing sessions.
• Plan capacity and manage delivery commitments within Scrum ceremonies.
• Maintain a component catalog and enforce portfolio standards and deprecation processes.
• Steward API and integration patterns, recommending architectures per downstream needs.
• Translate epics into implementable work items with clear acceptance criteria.
• Define and enforce the Definition of Done and CI/CD quality gates.
• Coordinate release readiness, documentation, and migration notes for services.
• Contribute to patent screening and technology roadmap improvements.
