Job summary

PPHE Hotel Group is seeking a hands-on Senior Cloud Engineer to shape, secure, and optimise a multi-cloud environment across Google Cloud Platform and Microsoft Azure. You will design secure, scalable cloud solutions, develop IaC, and automate operations.

You’ll collaborate with infrastructure, security, and development teams while delivering robust cloud platforms and maintaining high availability and cost efficiency across Europe.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience managing and supporting cloud environments, particularly Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Practical knowledge of Microsoft Azure in a multi-cloud environment.
• Strong experience administering cloud-native services including compute, networking, storage, monitoring, identity, and databases.
• Hands-on expertise with Infrastructure as Code, ideally using Terraform.
• Comfortable automating operational processes using PowerShell, Python, Bash, or similar scripting languages.
• Experience supporting cloud migrations, infrastructure modernisation, and hybrid environments.
• Understanding cloud security principles, monitoring, disaster recovery, backup strategies, and business continuity requirements.
• Experience with Kubernetes, containerised workloads, and platforms such as GKE and AKS would be highly advantageous.
• Natural problem solver with strong troubleshooting and third-line support experience.
• Collaborative with infrastructure, networking, security, application, and development teams to deliver robust cloud solutions.
• Ability to take ownership, manage multiple priorities, and respond effectively during incidents.
• Strong technical expertise paired with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage, monitor, support, and continuously improve production and non-production cloud environments.
• Take ownership of cloud operations across Google Cloud Platform while supporting Azure services and broader multi-cloud initiatives.
• Design, build, and implement secure, scalable, and cost-effective cloud solutions aligned with business needs.
• Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code frameworks and cloud automation capabilities.
• Deliver operational excellence through monitoring, performance tuning, capacity planning, and proactive issue prevention.
• Provide third-line technical support, owning complex incidents and problems through to resolution.
• Maintain cloud backup, recovery, and business continuity capabilities, including participation in recovery testing exercises.
• Support cloud migration projects, platform modernisation initiatives, and cloud transformation programmes.
• Collaborate with development and application teams to improve deployment processes, CI/CD integrations, and operational readiness.
• Contribute to container and Kubernetes environments, helping optimise platform reliability and scalability.
• Ensure cloud environments remain secure, compliant, and aligned with best practices.
• Produce and maintain accurate technical documentation, standards, operational procedures, and architectural diagrams.
• Work closely with internal teams and external partners to deliver a resilient and innovative cloud platform.
