Job summary

An international marine insurance company seeks a Senior Claims Handler P&I to manage a variety of claims including casualties and cargo in different jurisdictions. The ideal candidate will have higher education preferably in Maritime Law and at least five years of experience in claims handling. You will collaborate with various departments to provide excellent service and solve client issues. Qualifications

Overview

We are looking to strengthen our international claims team with a Senior Claims Handler P&I. In this position, you will be working in an internationally focused role and you will be handling a broad variety of claims, such as high value casualties, cargo and crew claims in different jurisdictions and FD&D disputes.

You will closely collaborate with colleagues of amongst others Claims, Underwriting and Loss Prevention Services departments.

You will make a tangible difference and your hands-on approach will help solve problems for our clients.

Key Responsibilities

• Providing excellent service to our clients and build lasting relationships with our clients and brokers
• Handling claims from start to finish
• Determining claims strategy and negotiate settlements within your claims handling authority
• Instructing correspondents, surveyors and lawyers
• Ensuring the accurate administration of claims file
• Active participating in and contributing to team meetings and consultations
• Serving as an internal contact for questions from Claims Handlers and issues relating to claims
• Participating in company-wide projects

Your Profile

• Higher education (HBO/University level), preferably supplemented by knowledge of Maritime Law and/or practical experience of operational shipping/transport. Preference for a Master in Maritime Law
• Preferably a minimum of five years experience in claims handling within the field of shipping, chartering or P&I insurance
• Good command of written and spoken English (Dutch is a plus)
