Job summary

Hoogwegt, the world’s largest privately owned dairy ingredient provider, seeks a Senior Business Controller in Arnhem. You will partner with BU Directors and Global Services Directors to steer margins, costs, and capital employed while shaping commercial decisions across a fast-paced trading environment.

You will lead budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning cycles, mentor the business control team, and drive cross-functional cost optimization across SG&A and CAPEX.

Qualifications

• A Master’s degree in Finance, Controlling, Business Economics, or a closely related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant business control experience.
• Demonstrable people leadership experience with collaborative team management and coaching.
• Fluency in English; working proficiency in Dutch is considered a strong advantage.
• Experience in commodity trading, food ingredients, dairy, or another margin-driven trading environment is highly preferred.
• Commercial acumen with a genuine curiosity about how margins are made and how to speak the business language.
• Strong communication skills and the confidence to constructively challenge stakeholders under pressure.
• A collaborative mindset with the ability to build commitment across commercial and functional teams.
• A results-oriented approach to project management, ensuring improvements are fully closed and implemented.
• Comfortable navigating financial systems and handling data independently.

Responsibilities

• Partner with Business Unit Directors on P&L and balance sheet performance, focusing on margin quality and pricing.
• Provide independent, holistic view to commercial discussions considering financial, commercial, and operational factors.
• Own the analytical framing of business performance and explain the 'why' behind the numbers.
• Maintain visibility of working capital and interest costs within commercial decisions.
• Evaluate commercial decisions after implementation against original business cases.
• Collaborate with Global Services Directors to manage SG&A budgets, depreciation and CAPEX investments.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting and strategic planning cycles for your areas.
• Drive process and performance improvement projects with measurable outcomes.
• Lead, coach and develop the business control team, balancing autonomy and guidance.
