Job summary

CONTAX is seeking a backend engineer to design, implement, and scale RESTful services using Java Spring and Node.js within our cloud-based platforms in Utrecht, NL.

You're expected to ship resilient, secure features, collaborate with product teams, mentor juniors, and thrive in an international, outcomes-driven environment. Hybrid work with remote options and BYOD support are offered.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience building and deploying backend systems.
• Work eligibility in the Netherlands.
• Experience with relational databases.
• Experience designing, implementing, and consuming REST APIs.
• Experience with cloud-based applications (AWS, GCP, Azure, or SAP BTP).
• Experience with enterprise software is preferred.
• Knowledge of software architectural patterns and the ability to mentor others.
• Great written and verbal communication in English.
• Desire to work in an international and collaborative environment.
• Demonstrated continual desire to learn and stay up to date with technology.

Responsibilities

• Build and support our backend systems by designing, writing and testing new features and functionality through Java (Spring Framework), Node.js, and cloud infrastructure components.
• Maintain resilient, secure and performant solutions able to serve tens of thousands of daily requests through a multiservice architecture.
• Improve existing systems by monitoring, identifying and correcting software defects.
• Suggest and contribute to integrating new techniques, technologies, and improvements into the team.
• Collaborate with other team members and mentor junior engineers.
