Albert Heijn is transforming its Finance-related applications. As a Backend Developer you will join the Sales Accounting DevOps team, building Kotlin microservices on Azure while maintaining existing data flows.

You will split time between new development and keeping current processes running, helping drive architectural decisions and ownership within the team. You will work with stakeholders and Product Owners to translate requirements into scalable backend solutions, participate in on-call

Working as a backend developer for AH Technology means you help build the applications our Finance department runs on. We are in the middle of a transformation: old processes and systems are being replaced by newer ones. We are looking for a developer who wants to help drive that change rather than wait for it.

Your new job.

As a backend developer you join the Sales Accounting DevOps team, which runs the Sales Accounting services and is rebuilding them at the same time. You work closely with the other engineers in the team and with the product owner. Roughly 70% of your week goes to new development, the rest to keeping the current data flows running. The ambition is to move every legacy sales accounting flow onto Kotlin microservices on Azure, and you can be one of the people who gets that done.

• Strong experience building and operating scalable backend systems with Kotlin or Java/Spring Boot in a microservices environment
• Experience with event-driven systems (e.g. Kafka) and designing scalable backend services
• Experience with cloud-native environments, Kubernetes, CI/CD tooling and Infrastructure-as-Code, preferably Terraform
• Solid understanding of relational databases and designing backend systems with a strong focus on scalability, performance and data integrity
• Experience taking technical ownership, driving solution design and architecture decisions within a team, while mentoring other developers
• Good interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders
• Strong communication skills and the ability to translate functional requirements into technical solutions together with Product Owners and stakeholders
• Based in the Netherlands and able to work hybrid from Zaandam
• Willing to participate in an on-call/standby rotation as part of the team’s operational responsibilities
