Job summary

VIA Logistics (Netherlands) is seeking an (Senior) Automation Engineer to own end-to-end automation projects in a warehouse and contract logistics environment. You will translate operational challenges into future-proof solutions in material handling, robotics and warehouse automation, collaborating with operations, management, customers and suppliers across the EMEA region.

Our client is an internationally operating logistics service provider with a strong European network. Warehouse automation plays a key role in the organisation's growth strategy, customer integrations and the development of new business opportunities.

As a (Senior) Automation Engineer, you will take end to end responsibility for automation projects within a warehouse and contract logistics (3PL) environment. You translate operational challenges into future proof solutions in the fields of material handling, robotics and warehouse automation.

You will either independently manage projects or grow into a leading role within larger automation programmes. In this position, you continuously interact with operations, management, customers and suppliers. You know when to prioritise, influence or escalat, while maintaining oversight of complex projects with significant engineering challenges.

Currently, around 30 live automation projects are running across the EMEA region, ranging from investments of several million euros to more than €50 million per project. You will work alongside a team of eight automation engineers and data scientists on complex, business critical and strategically important projects.

Your responsibilities

• Develop and evaluate automation concepts and solutions;
• Coordinate RFQ processes together with engineering and procurement teams, including supplier selection;
• Build, validate and champion business cases, including costs, benefits and risk assessments;
• Support contract negotiations in collaboration with procurement and legal teams;
• Take responsibility for the implementation and go live phases of automation projects;

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Logistics, Technology, Operations or Business Administration;
• At least three years of relevant experience with demonstrable project ownership;
• Experience with automation projects within contract logistics or a 3PL environment;
• Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously;
• Experience working across operations, management, customers and suppliers;
• Strong analytical capabilities and experience with data analysis, business cases and financial modelling;
• Excellent English communication skills, both spoken and written, combined with a confident and professional presence;
• The ability to prioritise effectively, stay in control under pressure and make well founded decisions;
• A professional and structured working style, combining strong analytical thinking with attention to detail and the ability to influence stakeholders.
• Salary starting from €5,000 gross per month;
