Job summary

ictjob.be in Amsterdam is seeking a hands-on Senior Engineer to join a small, highly technical R&D team. You will explore and build the next generation of AI-native developer experiences, from intelligent IDE capabilities to coding agents and self-verifying workflows.

This role offers significant technical ownership, requires turning emerging ideas into working prototypes, evaluating architectures, and shaping future product direction with international partners.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience building IDEs or developer tooling.
• Understanding IDE tech like IntelliJ Platform, PSI, LSP.
• Experience with LLMs, coding agents, context engineering.
• Strong software engineering skills; turn ideas into prototypes.
• Good judgment evaluating emerging technologies beyond PoC.
• Strong English communication; experience with international teams.
• Based in Amsterdam or willing to relocate.

Responsibilities

• Build prototypes and demos for AI-native IDE tooling.
• Investigate coding agents: context, tool use, planning, verification.
• Prototype AI-assisted developer workflows to boost productivity.
• Hands-on evaluation of IDE/LLM/agent architectures; translate findings.
• Experiment with context engineering and agent orchestration.
• Collaborate with universities, open-source and industry partners.
• Coordinate with international R&D teams on future direction.
