Job summary

microTECH Global Limited in Amsterdam is seeking a Senior IDE Tools Developer to lead a new research team focused on AI-powered coding tools for our in-house OS. The role emphasizes innovation and prototyping, not production software, with strategic direction for the HQ.

You will recruit and mentor senior researchers, scan the tech landscape, and bridge local work with the main engineering HQ, shaping the future of developer experience across our toolchain.

Qualifications

Proven experience building IDEs, developer tools, or AI coding agents.
Strong team leadership with hiring and strategic planning experience.
Deep understanding of developer experience (DX) and usability of coding tools.
Fluency in English and ability to work in Amsterdam.

Responsibilities

Set the vision: Lead the research and design of next-generation AI coding tools and environments.
Build prototypes: Create proofs-of-concept demonstrating how human developers and AI agents can collaborate effectively.
Scout tech & network: Track industry trends (like Cursor, Claude, or Trae) and partner with universities, startups, and experts.
Lead a team: Hire, mentor, and manage a small group of senior experts while bridging the gap between local research and HQ.
