Job summary

Roamler is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to join our AI/ML platform team in Amsterdam. You will own and evolve the machine learning and AI behind our outlet-data products, data platform and related services used across Europe.

Your work spans classical ML, NLP, embeddings, and modern LLM pipelines, from proof of concept to production. You will collaborate with data engineers, design scalable solutions, and help shape the next generation of data science capabilities at Roamler, with a flexible

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in a quantitative field (data science, CS, AI).
• 5+ years of experience as a Data Scientist.
• Hands-on experience bringing LLMs into production, including prompt design and cost/latency tradeoffs.
• Solid experience with embeddings and NLP: semantic similarity, entity matching, text classification.
• Proficiency with Python (sklearn, numpy, pandas).
• Experience with Spark/PySpark and cloud services (AWS/Azure).
• Familiarity with ML algorithms: clustering, classification, regression.
• Knowledge of information retrieval and AI tooling is a plus.
• Excellent written and spoken English communication.

Responsibilities

• Find data-driven solutions that address business problems for customers.
• Own and evolve ML/NLP enrichment pipelines and data services.
• Design, build, and run LLM-based components in production with considered prompt design.
• Select appropriate tools for each problem balancing accuracy, cost, and latency.
• Define evaluation methods and metrics so ML outputs are trustworthy.
• Collaborate with data engineers to move POCs into production.
• Write production-grade code and maintainability practices.
• Identify new opportunities in large daily data volumes.
• Work with business stakeholders to align requirements and expectations.
• Drive continuous improvements in the data science setup.
