Job summary

Planet Pharma, a rapidly expanding international organization, is seeking a Senior Accountant to join on a permanent basis in Amsterdam. You will own end-to-end accounting across multiple European entities and partner with external advisors to ensure compliant financial reporting.

The role demands a strong Dutch GAAP background, 5–7+ years of experience in financial accounting, and fluency in Dutch and English.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related discipline.

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end accounting for multiple European legal entities.
• Process sales and purchase invoices, bank transactions, employee expenses, and payment runs.
• Prepare and post journals, accruals, prepayments, depreciation, commissions, and intercompany transactions.
• Perform bank, balance sheet, inventory, and intercompany reconciliations.
• Lead monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities.
• Support group reporting and multi-entity consolidations.
• Coordinate statutory financial statements with local accounting providers.
• Review VAT returns, Intrastat submissions, and indirect tax processes with external advisors.
• Maintain fixed asset registers and ensure accurate accounting records.
• Manage relationships with external accountants, tax advisors, and auditors across several European countries.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and reporting efficiency.

About You

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline.
• 5-7+ years' experience in financial accounting, ideally within an international or multi-entity environment.
• Strong knowledge of Dutch GAAP
• Experience with month-end close, statutory reporting, VAT, and intercompany accounting.
• Experience working with ERP systems and financial reporting tools.
• Fluent Dutch and English language skills
