Senior Accountant – Corporate Finance & Trust Services
Full-time | On-site | Amsterdam, Netherlands
About Kiltoprak Financiers & Trust Co
Kiltoprak Financiers & Trust Co is a Netherlands-based financial services firm supporting small, medium and large corporations, investors and international business structures, with a particular focus on Turkey and Eastern Europe.
From our Amsterdam office, we provide services across corporate finance, accounting and financial reporting, transaction support, and trust and corporate services. Our work ranges from maintaining the financial administration of client entities and investment structures to advising corporations on financing, due diligence and cross-border transactions.
Within our trust and corporate services activities, we support the ongoing accounting, reporting and administration of Dutch and international client entities. On the corporate finance side, we assist clients with structuring and arranging financing through banks, investment funds, private equity firms, family offices and other financial institutions.
We are looking for a Senior Accountant who combines strong technical accounting skills with a practical approach to client service and an interest in international corporate structures.
The Role
As a Senior Accountant, you will take responsibility for the accounting and financial reporting of an assigned portfolio of client entities, including holding companies, investment structures, special-purpose entities and other corporate structures.
You will report to the Head of Accounting and work closely with our accounting, legal, trust and corporate finance colleagues. Your work will include maintaining and reviewing accounting records, preparing financial statements, handling tax and reporting requirements, and coordinating with clients, auditors and external advisers.
This is a hands-on role requiring both independent work and sound professional judgement. You will manage the progress and quality of your assignments, identify issues that require further attention, and provide practical guidance to junior accountants and interns.
You will also contribute accounting information and analysis to corporate finance assignments, gaining exposure to the financing and transaction activity behind the entities you work with.
Your Responsibilities
Depending on your client portfolio and assignments, your responsibilities will include:
- Maintaining and reviewing the accounting records of Dutch and international client entities, including journal entries, general ledger balances and supporting documentation;
- Preparing and reviewing bank, balance-sheet and intercompany reconciliations, resolving discrepancies and ensuring that accounting records are complete and accurate;
- Carrying out monthly, quarterly and year-end closing processes and preparing trial balances, management accounts and reporting packages;
- Preparing annual financial statements under Dutch GAAP, including supporting schedules, consolidations and group reporting where applicable;
- Accounting for intercompany transactions, loans, interest, dividends and other corporate transactions, working with legal and trust colleagues to ensure that the accounting reflects the underlying agreements and corporate documentation;
- Preparing, reviewing and filing VAT returns, ICP statements and corporate income tax returns within the team’s review procedures, including handling extensions and provisional assessments in consultation with the Head of Accounting or external tax advisers where required;
- Supporting payroll processing and related filings for assigned client entities, including employee changes, expense claims and, where applicable, 30% ruling applications;
- Preparing and reviewing information for DNB Benchmark and AIFMD reporting, where applicable to client entities;
- Supporting transaction monitoring and related documentation in cooperation with the legal and compliance teams;
- Preparing audit files and supporting schedules, responding to audit requests and coordinating with external auditors, tax advisers and other professional service providers;
- Monitoring accounting, tax and reporting deadlines for your assigned portfolio and keeping the Head of Accounting informed of progress, outstanding information and potential issues;
- Acting as a day-to-day contact for clients on accounting and reporting matters, handling routine queries independently and escalating complex or sensitive matters appropriately;
- Contributing to the internal accounting of the group’s Dutch entities, including intercompany balances, annual accounts, client invoicing, debtor follow-up and accurate time recording;
- Preparing financial information and analysis for financing applications, cash-flow assessments, due diligence and transaction processes in cooperation with the corporate finance team;
- Reviewing work prepared by junior colleagues and interns and providing practical guidance on accounting tasks and documentation; and
- Identifying and implementing improvements to accounting procedures, reporting processes, internal controls and the organisation of client files.
Your Profile
We are looking for an experienced accountant who enjoys taking responsibility for client work, understands the importance of reliable financial information and is comfortable working with international corporate structures.
You should have:
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Financial Management, Business Economics or a related discipline, or an equivalent professional qualification;
- At least five years of relevant accounting experience, including practical experience with Dutch entities;
- Strong knowledge of Dutch GAAP and experience preparing annual financial statements and periodic financial reports;
- A good working knowledge of Dutch VAT, ICP and corporate income tax reporting, together with the judgement to recognise matters requiring specialist advice;
- Experience with intercompany accounting, reconciliations and the financial administration of holding companies or international groups;
- Strong Excel skills and confidence working with accounting systems and digital financial administration tools;
- The ability to organise your own workload, manage several client assignments and meet reporting deadlines;
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and a practical approach to resolving accounting issues; and
- The ability to communicate clearly with clients, colleagues, auditors and advisers and to support less experienced team members.\
Experience in trust or corporate services is strongly preferred. Relevant experience in an accounting practice, audit firm or another environment serving international corporate clients is also valuable.
Experience with Exact Online, IFRS, consolidations, payroll administration or regulatory reporting would be an advantage.
Professional proficiency in both Dutch and English is required. Knowledge of other relevant language(s) is an advantage.
You should be available to work full-time and on-site in Amsterdam.
What We Offer
- A varied accounting role with responsibility for your own portfolio of client entities;
- Work involving Dutch and international companies, holding structures and investment entities;
- Close collaboration with experienced accounting, legal, trust and corporate finance professionals;
- Exposure to financing, due diligence and transactions alongside ongoing accounting and reporting work;
- Opportunities to deepen your technical expertise and contribute to the development of junior colleagues;
- A boutique, international working environment where your contribution is visible and you work closely with senior professionals; and
