GroundIQ, part of Fugro, seeks a Scientific Product Engineer to turn cutting-edge research and models into production-ready software for infrastructure projects. You will own features end-to-end, collaborating with engineers, data scientists, and users to ensure scientific rigor and real-world impact.

You will work across the stack, from frontend and backend to cloud, applying Python and scientific computing expertise, and leveraging AI tools to accelerate development while balancing delivery

Formación

• Strong academic background in Physics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, or Engineering at MSc/PhD level.
• 4+ years of experience building and delivering software products with end-to-end ownership.
• Proven track record transforming research, algorithms, or prototypes into production-ready solutions.
• Strong Python and scientific computing expertise with the ability to work across the technology stack.

Job Description

We are looking for a Scientific Product Engineer who can bridge the gap between science and product development. In this role, you will take cutting-edge scientific research, algorithms, and models and turn them into reliable software solutions that engineers use on real-world infrastructure projects.

Your role

• You translate scientific research, algorithms, and prototypes into reliable product features that deliver value to engineers;
• You own features end-to-end, from defining problems and validating solutions to measuring real-world impact;
• You collaborate with users and stakeholders to understand needs, prioritise development, and ensure scientific rigor where it matters most;
• You work across the technology stack, from frontend and backend development to cloud infrastructure, scientific computing, and machine learning;
• You optimise and scale solutions, including performance-critical components where required;
• You leverage AI-powered tools to enhance development speed, quality, and productivity;
• You balance scientific excellence with product delivery, while actively sharing knowledge and supporting team growth.

Your track record

• You have a strong academic background in Physics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, typically at MSc or PhD level;
• You have 4+ years of experience building and delivering software products with end-to-end ownership;
• You have successfully transformed scientific research, algorithms, or prototypes into production-ready solutions;
• You are experienced across the technology stack, with strong expertise in Python and scientific computing;
• You have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and thrive in ambiguous, research-driven environments;
• You leverage AI tools to improve productivity and quality, while bringing a pragmatic, collaborative, and user-focused mindset.
