Job summary

Pontis Onderwijsgroep seeks a motivated technical teaching assistant to support practical education across science subjects. You will guide pupils in experiments, independent projects and research, using chemistry and physics materials with safety at the fore.

A background in technical teaching assistance is preferred and design/technology affinity is a plus. You will work 0.4–0.6 FTE on-site at Han Fortmann, with opportunities for training and career development within Pontis.

Qualifications

• Qualification as a technical teaching assistant or demonstrable affinity with chemistry/physics.
• Affinity with design and technology is an advantage.

• Knowledge of safety requirements in a science laboratory at a school.

• Supports teachers during (the preparation of) practical education both in and outside of lessons.
• Instructs and guides pupils in carrying out practical work, independent research and profile projects, and in the use of scientific or technical materials.
• Independently develops demonstration experiments, practicals and independent research assignments.
• Advise teachers regarding safety in and maintenance of the practical classrooms and adjacent areas, ensures the presence of safety equipment and supervises its use.
• Maintains scientific and technical materials and advises teachers on the purchase of materials.

What will you do? Our TOA Binask:

• Supports teachers during (the preparation of) practical education both in and outside of lessons;
• Instructs and guides pupils in carrying out practical work, independent research and profile projects, and in the use of scientific or technical materials;
• Independently develops demonstration experiments, practicals and independent research assignments;
• Advise teachers regarding safety in and maintenance of the practical classrooms (and their installations) and adjacent areas, ensures the presence of safety equipment and supervises its use, and co-manages the disposal of chemicals;
• Maintains (preventively) scientific and technical materials and advises teachers on the purchase of (new) materials.

You got it! You are a motivated technical teaching assistant who is interested in developments within the teaching profession. You have completed a qualification as a technical teaching assistant and/or have a demonstrable affinity with the subjects of chemistry/physics. Affinity with the subject of design and technology is an advantage.

• An open and listening attitude to teachers and students;
• Good contact skills, both pedagogical and didactic;
• Skill in pedagogically approaching individual pupils and groups of pupils and addressing them.;
• Knowledge of safety requirements associated with working and learning in a science laboratory at a school.
