Job summary

Celestia Satellite Test & Simulation BV (C-STS) in Noordwijk, The Netherlands, is seeking a Modem Engineer to design and develop RF and optical modems for satellite links, involving modulation, demodulation and signal processing.

You will define modem system architectures, work with DSP algorithms, and collaborate with system engineers, FPGA/VHDL specialists and software designers to deliver our ground station solutions and support TT&C products.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Electrical, Computer Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience in signal processing and digital modulation schemes (e.g., GMSK, OQPSK, QPSK).
  • Proficiency with C, C++, MATLAB, Simulink, and HW/SW platform prototyping.
  • Knowledge of FEC techniques (trellis, convolutional codes, BCH codes, LDPC, turbo codes).
  • Familiarity with FPGA (Xilinx) and VHDL design.
  • Experience in packaging and continuous improvement of engineering software.
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to work collaboratively in a high‑tech, dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Defining modem system architectures and DSP algorithms across the product lifecycle.
  • Hands‑on development and support in collaboration with engineers and customers.
  • Gathering system requirements and issuing specifications.
  • Interacting with system engineers, FPGA/VHDL specialists, and SW designers.
  • Organising firmware outsourcing for modem and FEC solutions.
  • Supporting TT&C and high‑rate legacy products.
  • Verifying and validating lab benches and procedures.
  • Preparing formal documentation for project activities.
  • Contributing to proposals for innovative satellite communications technologies.
  • Analyzing, modelling, and simulating DSP algorithms.
