Job summary

Telespazio Belgium, with over 45 years in space operations, seeks a Satellite Telecommunication System Engineer to join ESTEC, Netherlands, as a contractor for Telespazio Belgium.

You will analyze and simulate satellite telecom systems, assist in R&D activities, tender prep, and ESA project support, with hybrid work and relocation assistance.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or PhD in Telecommunication or Electrical engineering or equivalent.
• Strong background in satellite communications and maritime/aeronautical services.
• Experience in satellite system and network simulations.
• Knowledge of 3GPP 5G protocol and SATCOM standards.
• Proficiency in MATLAB and programming languages such as Julia, Python, C++.

Responsibilities

• Support ESA in satellite telecommunication system analysis and simulation.
• Assist in invitation to tenders related to ESA R&D.
• Support management of industrial R&D activities in system design, analysis and simulations.
• Assist hands-on technical analysis on future SATCOM systems.
• Contribute to R&D technology roadmaps for satellite telecom networks.
• Support ESA-wide projects in telecommunication systems and technologies.

Telespazio Belgium can count on more than 45 years of experience in the field of Space Operations Service & Engineering activities.

Telespazio Belgium has an on-site service at ESTEC in the Netherlands, and we are looking for a highly skilled Satellite Telecommunication System Engineer to work there.

Candidates must be eligible for a security personal clearance from an EU Member State national security administration

What is expected from you:

Support ESA in the activities of satellite telecommunication system analysis and simulation

The activities include:

• Assistance in preparation of invitation to tenders related to ESA R&D.
• Support the management of industrial R&D activities in the areas of system design, analysis and simulations
• Support internal hands-on technical analysis on subjects related to future SATCOM systems
• Support the preparation of the section R&D technology roadmaps in the area of satellite telecom network protocols, architectures and systems
• Support ESA-wide projects in the area of telecommunication systems and technologies

What you offer :

• Master's degree / PhD (preferable) in Telecommunication or Electrical engineering
• Good background on satellite communication system and technologies, particularly in the areas of maritime and aeronautical services
• Experience in satellite system and network simulations
• Good knowledge of the 3GPP 5G protocol
• At least 2 years of relevant work experience in the field of telecommunications covering the following:
• System level analysis of satellite telecommunication networks
• End-to-end Physical/MAC layer analysis and simulations
• Good knowledge of SATCOM related standards
• Knowledge of MATLAB and other programming languages such as Julia, Python, C++.
