Job description

  • Join an established international organisation offering long-term career stability and opportunities for professional development
  • Take ownership of business-critical SAP systems, with the opportunity to lead improvement projects and influence operational performance
  • Develop your expertise within a collaborative SAP team, gaining exposure to new technologies, automation and wider business processes

About the Company

Our client is an established international organisation with a strong presence across Europe and an extensive distribution network supporting customers across multiple markets.

With a continued focus on operational efficiency and investment in its internal systems, the business is looking to recruit an experienced SAP EWM Lead to support its operations across the Netherlands and Belgium.

The company operates a complex warehousing and distribution environment where reliable systems are essential to maintaining efficient operations and delivering a high standard of customer service.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established business offering long-term stability, a collaborative working environment and the opportunity to take genuine ownership of its SAP systems.

Role Overview: SAP EWM Lead

This is an internally focused position responsible for the day-to-day performance, support and continued improvement of SAP Extended Warehouse Management (EWM) across operations in the Netherlands and Belgium.

You'll play a key role in ensuring the SAP environment operates effectively, working closely with warehouse teams, operational stakeholders and internal IT specialists to resolve issues and identify opportunities for improvement.

The position combines hands-on functional support with project work, including system enhancements, process improvements and changes to existing SAP functionality.

You'll have the opportunity to lead improvement initiatives, influence how warehouse operations are supported by technology and contribute to the long-term development of the company's SAP environment.

Support is available from an established internal SAP team and external consulting partners, providing access to additional expertise when required.

Hybrid working is available, with regular visits to operational sites across the Netherlands and Belgium.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take functional ownership of SAP EWM across warehouse operations in the Netherlands and Belgium
  • Act as the main point of contact for SAP EWM support, troubleshooting and system improvements
  • Ensure the reliability and performance of SAP functionality supporting daily warehouse operations
  • Work closely with operational teams to understand existing processes and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Investigate system issues, coordinate resolutions and minimise disruption to business operations
  • Manage system changes and improvement requests, prioritising work according to operational requirements
  • Lead warehouse optimisation projects aimed at improving efficiency, accuracy and order fulfilment
  • Support system updates, enhancements and changes within the existing SAP S/4HANA environment
  • Collaborate with colleagues responsible for purchasing, order management and other connected SAP processes
  • Work with external consultants when additional technical expertise or resources are required
  • Provide guidance and training to users, helping teams make effective use of SAP functionality
  • Maintain system documentation and support the introduction of improved working processes
  • Explore opportunities to introduce automation and other technologies to improve operational efficiency

What We're Looking For

  • Proven hands-on experience in SAP EWM functional consulting or a comparable internal SAP position
  • Strong understanding of warehouse operations, logistics processes and their relationship with SAP functionality
  • Experience supporting SAP EWM within a live operational environment
  • Previous involvement in an SAP EWM implementation or ECC-to-S/4HANA migration would be advantageous
  • Practical experience with SAP EWM; experience exclusively with older SAP WM systems will not be sufficient
  • Confidence investigating system issues, managing priorities and taking ownership of improvements
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with operational and technical stakeholders
  • Knowledge of procure-to-pay (PTP/P2P) and other connected SAP processes would be beneficial
  • Experience with SAP interfaces and integrations would be advantageous
  • Coding, debugging or other technical troubleshooting skills would be useful but are not essential
  • An interest in automation, AI and continuous improvement would be welcomed
  • Dutch language skills are preferred, alongside effective communication in English
  • Relevant practical experience is prioritised over formal qualifications
  • Annual Leave: 25 days (200 hours) upon joining, based on full-time employment
  • Enhanced Annual Leave: 36.5 days (292 hours) after six months' service, based on full-time employment
  • Travel allowance for home-to-office commuting, dependent on distance and in accordance with company policy
  • Hybrid working, with attendance based on operational and project requirements
  • Opportunity to take ownership of an established SAP environment
  • Exposure to business-critical improvement and optimisation projects
  • Collaboration with experienced internal SAP specialists and external technical partners
  • Opportunities to broaden functional expertise across connected SAP processes

This position offers the opportunity to develop your career within an international organisation while taking genuine ownership of an important part of its operations.

You'll have the chance to lead system improvements, influence warehouse processes and collaborate with specialists across different SAP functions.

Working alongside experienced colleagues will also provide exposure to connected business processes, allowing you to broaden your technical and functional expertise beyond EWM.

For someone who enjoys combining technical problem-solving with business improvement, this role offers an opportunity to make a measurable difference to daily operations.

Working Arrangements

Location: Netherlands & Belgium

Working Pattern: Hybrid, with regular attendance at operational locations in both countries.

The position involves working closely with warehouse and operational teams, so flexibility to attend the relevant sites when required will be important.

Ideal Candidate Location

Candidates should ideally be based within a reasonable commuting distance of the warehouse operations in the south-east Netherlands and Belgium.

Applicants based elsewhere in the Netherlands or neighbouring areas of Belgium may also be considered, provided they can accommodate regular site visits.

Flexibility around commuting distance and office attendance may be available for candidates with particularly relevant SAP EWM experience.
