Job summary
Mollie is seeking a Sales Engineer in the Netherlands to bridge technology and business in the pre‑sales phase. You’ll craft technical demos, run API‑driven proofs, and present Mollie’s payments solutions to merchants to close deals.
You’ll join a growing professional services team with real autonomy, close collaboration with product and sales, and influence on how Mollie solves integration challenges for customers across Europe.
Qualifications
- 2–3 years in a sales engineering or pre-sales role.
- Strong API understanding and experience with Postman.
- Fluent in Dutch and English; able to communicate technical concepts.

As a Sales Engineer at Mollie, you sit at the intersection of technology and business, supporting our sales team through the pre‑sales phase with solutioning, demos, and technical presentations. You are the technical voice in the room for our Netherlands commercial team, helping mid‑to‑upmarket customers understand exactly how Mollie's payment solutions solve their challenges and close deals through genuine technical value selling.
This role sits within a newly formed professional services structure, separate from the commercial organisation. That means real autonomy in how you work, dedicated leadership focused on craft and efficiency, and a direct line to product teams. You will own the full customer lifecycle from initial discovery through to deal closure, going deep on complex API integrations and custom solutions rather than off‑the‑shelf implementations.
You are joining at a pivotal moment. Mollie is growing fast in the Netherlands, moving upmarket into more complex, longer deal cycles, and building out Sales Engineering as a true centre of excellence. The work you do here will directly shape how we win in one of our most important markets.
- Custom technical demos and solution pitches tailored to specific customer problems, built using tools like Postman and AI to bring Mollie's API capabilities to life in a compelling and relevant way
- Deep technical discovery across complex customer cases, from initial sales qualification through to contract signature, ensuring every deal is grounded in a thorough understanding of the customer's environment
- Scalable solutions architecture work that addresses mid‑to‑upmarket customer challenges, focusing on custom API integrations rather than standard plugin implementations
- Collaborative upsell and revenue initiatives with the CSM team, contributing technical expertise to identify and unlock growth opportunities within existing accounts
- Knowledge‑sharing sessions and internal training on Mollie products and the payments market, raising the technical bar across the broader sales and commercial teams
- Structured handovers to post‑sales implementation management at contract signature, ensuring a clean and high‑quality transition that sets customers up for success
- 2 to 3 years of experience in a sales engineering, solutions engineering, or pre‑sales technical role, ideally with a background in engineering (mechanical, software, or similar)
- A solid understanding of APIs and REST APIs, with hands‑on experience using tools such as Postman to build and demonstrate integrations
- Fluency in Dutch and English, with strong communication and presentation skills that allow you to translate complex technical concepts clearly for both technical and non‑technical stakeholders
- Proven ability to bridge business and technology perspectives, turning difficult technical problems into clear product solutions and pitching those solutions confidently to customers
- Experience in a SaaS or e‑commerce environment, with exposure to external customers and merchant interactions
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively across internal teams and with customers at varying levels of seniority, including examples of using AI in demos or pitches
