Job summary

The European Space Agency (ESA) invites motivated students to join the ROSE-L internship in Noordwijk, the Netherlands. You will support the assessment of the sensitivity and added value of L-band radar observations for selected applications.

During your internship you will identify and process datasets from L-band SAR missions, transform image data into geophysical products, and document methods in a reproducible manner.

Qualifications

• Must be a university student enrolled for the duration of the internship.
• Demonstrable programming skills in Python.
• Experience in processing and analysing satellite imagery.

Responsibilities

• Identify, collect and process datasets from existing L-band SAR satellite missions and/or airborne campaigns using established tools.
• Transform SAR image data into geophysical products for selected application areas and assess data quality against independent measurements.
• Investigate L-band observations and their complementarity with other radar missions, especially Sentinel-1.
• Document datasets, methods, assumptions and results in a clear, reproducible manner.
