Job summary

Scura in Groningen, Netherlands, is seeking a hands-on software architect to lead the integration of electromechanical subsystems and the development of a modular, open-standards based software stack for a ground system controlling UAV fleets.

You will strengthen interfaces, validate improvements on working hardware, and work with safety specialists on simulation and hardware‑in‑the‑loop testing, with a one-year fixed-term contract and stock appreciation rights.

Qualifications

• Delivered machinery and performed software integration and commissioning.
• Hands-on PLC programming, controller integration, and industrial communications.
• Experience with modular software architectures and testable components.
• Strong production C++ experience, Linux proficiency, and Python for tooling.
• Disciplined testing and hazard-aware commissioning.

Responsibilities

• Map, document and validate interfaces between PLCs, embedded controllers, drives, actuators, sensors and supervisory software.
• Develop and verify modular software architecture with well-defined interfaces.
• Architect and test edge autonomy for fleet deployment, recovery and management.
• Maintain versioned interface contracts to enable supplier‑independent integration.
• Collaborate with safety specialists on simulation, hardware‑in‑the‑loop tests and risk mitigation.
• Mentor new team members and help onboard by documenting interfaces.
