Job summary

Sunrock is seeking a Risk & Insurance Manager to oversee international risk management and insurance across our Amsterdam and Düsseldorf offices. You will further develop processes, support asset- or project-managers during claims, and align risk activities with Asset Management, Legal and Finance & Control.

The role reports to the Director Asset Management and involves coordinating with COFRA experts. Travel every 1–2 months and English fluency required; Dutch, German and/or French are a plus.

Qualifications

• Hold a BSc or MSc qualification in a relevant field.
• Significant experience (at least 5 years) in asset risk management.
• Experience with insurance management, preferably in an energy asset environment.

Responsibilities

• Oversee Sunrock's international risk management approach as well as the insurance policies across all countries.
• Further implement company-wide insurance processes, including clear ways of working for claims, broker interactions and internal responsibilities.
• Hands on support to asset- or project managers when claims occur on the projects/assets, including coordination with brokers, insurers and relevant internal teams.
• Create and maintain an asset risk matrix and ensure identified risks are translated into practical actions.
• Establish a recurring rhythm for risk assessments and keep risk registers up to date across the portfolio.
• Work closely with Asset Management, Legal and Finance & Control to align risk and insurance processes with operational and financial needs.
• Cooperate with the risk and insurance experts from our mother company COFRA.

The Asset Management team Sunrock's Asset Management team ensures our solar assets generate reliable clean energy safely and efficiently, year after year. We protect portfolio value and align stakeholders, including property owners, contractors, financiers, insurance companies and brokers. As the portfolio grows, our focus on optimization increases: once an asset is operational, the work continues. We currently manage a portfolio of 650MW with approx. 350 Solar PV assets and approx. 20 BESS. Our department is growing and actively improving its ways of working while managing daily operations. We are a team of twenty people in three countries with diverse backgrounds, nationalities, genders, ages and expertise.

As Risk & Insurance Manager, you will oversee Sunrock's risk management approach and insurance policies across all countries. Our insurance setup is in good shape, and you will build on this foundation by further developing clear insurance processes. In case of claims on the assets, you provide hands on support to the colleagues to make sure that broker, insurer and internal stakeholder interactions are handled effectively; eventually to protect Sunrock's position. A key part of the role is to further build out asset risk management. This includes developing and maintaining an asset risk matrix. You establish a rhythm of recurring risk assessments, keep risk registers up to date and translate identified risks into practical follow-up actions with your Asset Management colleagues. You will report to the Director Asset Management. Support in this role comes from the Asset Management team, as well as colleagues in Legal and Finance & Control. You will work internationally and help colleagues apply a consistent, practical approach to risk and insurance across Sunrock's activities.

What you bring to the table

• Hold a BSc or MSc qualification in a relevant field, such as Business Administration, Financial Management, Risk Management, Economics or Law.
• You are independent, proactive and a self-starter who can structure work and drive topics forward.
• You are able to lead and motivate colleagues on risk and insurance topics without having a hierarchical position towards them.
• You are outgoing and build relationships through direct personal interaction, rather than trying to solve everything from behind a screen via email or chat.
• You have significant experience (at least 5 years) in asset risk management.
• You have experience with insurance management, preferably in an (energy) asset environment.
• You are willing to travel once every one to two months to our various offices.
• You speak and write English fluently at C1 level.
• Dutch, German and/or French are a plus.
