Job summary

Delft University of Technology is seeking a Research Software Engineer to collaborate with researchers across domains such as AI, bioinformatics, computer graphics, and data management. You will design, implement, and document software solutions for multiple research projects, with emphasis on reproducible research and robust software practices.

The role offers a dynamic environment within the Research Engineering and Infrastructure Team (REIT) at TU Delft, with opportunities to work on HPC,

Qualifications

  • Master or PhD in computer science, mathematics, physics, engineering, or similar.
  • Fluency in Python, C/C++, Rust; willingness to learn new languages.
  • Ability to rapidly acquire fluency in new technologies and fields.
  • Ability to switch focus between projects and teams over time.
  • Understanding of best practices for reproducible research (version control, testing, CI).
  • Experience with developing web applications and interactive visualizations is a plus.
  • Strong social and communicative skills in English; team-oriented.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with researchers on diverse projects across AI, data science, HPC, and embedded systems.
  • Design, implement, and document software solutions for research projects.
  • Work on two projects simultaneously with varying durations.
  • Promote reproducible research practices and appropriate software engineering methods.
