Job summary

Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) is seeking a Research Infrastructure Engineer to maintain and extend specialised lab infrastructure in support of AI and computer science research. The role sits within the REIT team in EEMCS and collaborates with INSY and central ICT services.

You will manage Linux servers, security, backups, and project-specific AI infrastructure, while coordinating with researchers and technicians to ensure robust, available systems for demonstrations and teaching

Qualifications

• Experience administering Linux systems in complex environments.
• Solid networking, firewall and access-management knowledge.
• Ability to automate with Bash, Python or similar tools.
• Experience with data backup, recovery and database maintenance.
• Strong troubleshooting under time pressure.
• Willingness to support a variety of AV and research lab tech.
• Good communication and collaboration with technical and non-technical users.
• MSc degree or equivalent professional experience.

Responsibilities

• Maintain reliability and availability of research infrastructure outside central ICT.
• Manage Linux servers, access control, security, and troubleshooting.
• Support hardware/software environments for labs like InsyghtLab.
• Deploy project-specific servers, cloud VMs, and AI infra as needed.
• Coordinate infrastructure requests and maintain technical documentation.
